I LOVE breakfast. I mean, so, so much. Lucky for me (and you!), there’s no shortage of places in town to get a great breakfast! Actually, every month, I take each of our kids on a breakfast date. So, these recommendations come tested and approved by the Groves.
Triple XXX
This beloved West Lafayette landmark has been enjoyed by tastebuds for decades! Started WAY back when it was a root beer stand, the Triple XXX is now known for their delicious breakfast and lunch options, as well as hand-dipped milkshakes! (All rules go out the window on the aforementioned breakfast dates . . . so this might be THE reason our kids love it so much.) If you ask my son, he’d tell you to get the biscuits and gravy.
Christos
Christos in West Lafayette is a family restaurant serving comfort foods. They have the absolute best omelets. Oh, YUM! If you like a place to sit and chat over a warm cup of coffee in a cushiony booth, this is your stop!
8Eleven Bistro
8Eleven Bistro in the Purdue Memorial Union is the perfect place for a celebratory brunch. Not only do they have fabulous food, but they also serve up a variety of breakfast beverages. (Mimosa, anyone?) I highly recommend the avocado toast or the crepes. Beware, if there’s a big campus event happening (hello, graduation weekend), you’ll want to skip this spot.
West Side Diner
West Side Diner is newer to the scene, but it’s as fabulous as it sounds. Slip into a booth or belly up to the breakfast bar! They have everything you’d expect at a breakfast joint, including our daughter’s favorite: Nutella banana pancakes. You’ll see a variety of people, some enjoying the paper leisurely, others merely pit-stopping on their way to the office.
Hammer Down Doughnuts
OK, this is an AWESOME new addition to downtown Lafayette! Hammer Down Doughnuts isn’t new to the area, but they are in their first storefront, and it’s perfect! They had a drool-worthy display case, with extra booths to sit in as well. It was easy to pull up out front and grab our treats to-go! I honestly don’t know how you could go wrong with any of their flavors.
Country Café
Country Café is the newest spot to the West Lafayette brunch scene, and it was good. I enjoyed a birthday breakfast there with my mom and sister, and we had coffee, breakfast casserole, pancakes. You can’t beat the prices, either!
So, what are your area favorites? Let me know because as you might have guessed, I’m always up for a new breakfast spot.
