Photo-Worthy Spots in Greater Lafayette

September 4, 2024 by Stacy Grove Leave a Comment

Ah, fall. It’s the most lovely time of year for us Midwesterners: cooler temps, fabulous tree colors, and . . . perhaps some family photos! We have some top-tier photographers in our area, but whether you’re meeting with a pro or having a friend grab your photo, there’s no shortage of spots to get gorgeous shots! Here are some of my favorites.

Michaud-Sinninger Woods Nature Preserve: West Lafayette

A few years ago (when I had darker, less-grey hair) we did family photos in this fabulous spot. The golden backdrop was just gorgeous!

Celery Bog Nature Area and Lilly Nature Center: West Lafayette

Two years ago, we met the lovely Jen Ritchie at the Celery Bog Nature Area where she grabbed a variety of great family shots!

McCormick Woods Trail: West Lafayette

This one is a bit of an adventure. If you’ve got time, go to the VERY back of the trail and you’ll end up just on the edge of the Purdue Golf Course. It’s such a beautiful, pristine green backdrop for your shots!

Happy Hollow Park: West Lafayette

Who doesn’t love the trails through Happy Hollow? Or perhaps you want some goofy shots of your kids playing in the creek bed. You’ll have endless choices here!

Horticulture Park near Purdue University: West Lafayette

Many moons ago I was in a wedding, and the wedding party photos were taken at Hort Park. It was July, and it was lovely.

Rhiele Plaza and Pedestrian Bridge: Lafayette

Some of you might prefer more of an urban feel for those fall photos. Rhiele Plaza includes some great opportunities in front of the historic train depot, as well as on the bridge!

Moses Fowler House: Lafayette

Stairs, stairs, stairs! If you have a large group photo, the Moses Fowler House has lovely gardens and outdoor spaces. It’s a great mix of urban and natural!

Hahn Museum of Indiana Art: Lafayette

If you don’t know, not only is the Hahn Museum lovely, but so is the garden area behind the home. There are some incredible sculptures out there, too!

Fairfield Lakes Park: near Dayton

How about some water shots? If the sky is bright, you will probably grab some great cloud reflections, too!

There are dozens of great locations for photos in Greater Lafayette. Whether you need new headshots, or engagement photos, or family pictures, you will find great locations all around the area!
