I\u2019m always amazed at the variety of things to do<\/em> in Tippecanoe County, and while it might be cold outside, there\u2019s still plenty to do during the winter months. If you need some ideas for things to do with the family during the holiday break (or during the bleak months afterwards when it\u2019s too cold to go outside), check out this list!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First, a couple of day-specific activities you should be aware of.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hike at Prophetstown (January 1)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t miss the January 1 hike at Prophetstown State Park! Start those New Year resolutions off right! Get outside and enjoy the fresh air. Prophetstown is such a fabulous park, and it\u2019s right in our backyard!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch Dragons & Mythical Beasts<\/em> at the Long Center (March 24)<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t miss Dragons & Mythical Beasts<\/em> at the Long Center! This show<\/a> is supposed to be awesome\u2014it\u2019s an interactive show for the whole family! (This show is from the creators of Dinosaur World Live<\/em>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shop and Play at the Purdue Memorial Union<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

There\u2019s plenty of fun to be had at the Purdue Memorial Union<\/a>. Most important, there are no students during break, and it\u2019s actually a relaxing place to be when it\u2019s less crowded. There\u2019s a new dining hall in the lower level, and you can follow it up with some time bowling at Rack and Roll.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create Some Pottery at All Fired Up<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

All Fired Up<\/a> is such a fun place to paint your own pottery! Fabulous for gift-giving, or just mental relaxation! This is a fun girls\u2019 night or date night, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check Out Our Indoor Play Places<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We have a bunch <\/em>of indoor play places in the Greater Lafayette area, and it\u2019s one of my most popular blog posts, so check it out<\/a>! Be sure to check the hours before you head out, especially during the holidays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skate at Tapawingo Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

From late November to early March, how about some ice skating at a charming little rink? This is such a fun way to spend some time outdoors. Don\u2019t forget gloves or mittens to cover your fingers if you fall (ice\u2014brrrrr).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sled!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We have some great sledding spots around here, so visit my blog with all the deets<\/a>. All we need is a little snoooowwwwww!!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Attend a Library Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Check out programs at your local library\u2014Tippecanoe<\/a> or West Lafayette<\/a>. We have such beautiful libraries around town! They have fabulous programming year-round. Also, if you haven\u2019t yet checked out the new-and-improved West Lafayette library post-renovation, it\u2019s gorgeous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bowl at Mike Aulby\u2019s Arrowhead Bowl<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Who doesn\u2019t love to bowl? Check out Mike Aulby\u2019s Arrowhead Bowl<\/a>. Along with cosmic bowling (SO FUN!), don\u2019t miss the awesome new arcade!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Skate at Great United Skates <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Great United Skates<\/a> has been such a fun addition to our area. Channel your inner 80s kid and lace up! This is a fabulous workout, too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check Out Malibu Jack\u2019s Indoor Theme Park<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Malibu Jack\u2019s<\/a> just opened, and it\u2019s making use of some of the space at the Tippecanoe Mall! Go karts, laser tag, miniature golf, bowling, and more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hike along Wabash Heritage Trail<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The gorgeous Wabash Heritage Trail<\/a> is yet another way to get outdoors! Be sure to check for closures due to roadwork. Perhaps start at Davis Ferry Park and work toward downtown Lafayette.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drink Hot Chocolate at McCord Candies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

McCord\u2019s<\/a> is the cutest old-timey candy shop. Maybe you just need to escape the walls of your home. Grab a good book, buy a hot chocolate, and settle in for some reading!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Escape from an Escape Room<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We actually have two escape room joints here in Greater Lafayette, Mission Breakout<\/a> and Rugged Xscape<\/a>. If you haven\u2019t done an escape room, you\u2019re missing out. They\u2019re SO FUN!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take a Swing at Monster Mini Golf <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Monster Mini Golf<\/a> is a fun outing when the weather is just too cold outside. It\u2019s all blacklight putting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Watch a Show at Civic Theater\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Catch a fabulous show at Civic Theater<\/a>! There are so many to choose from. And, they have a fabulous concession stand, too!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Outrage Smash Therapy <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Outrage Smash Therapy<\/a> is the craziest thing I ever did hear of! I can think of some times it will come in handy though\u2026.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lazy Cat Lounge <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Also, this cat lounge<\/a> is crazy, unless you love cats\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Art With a Happy Heart<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
