Here are some local ideas you can try this year. It\u2019s time to break away from what you\u2019ve been doing for the last 20 years straight and try something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s nice because it takes a little more effort than buying flowers, and the flowers last longer, too. Meet at Bennet\u2019s and pick out some of her favorites. Then, take them home to plant them and watch them grow in the weeks and years ahead. Make sure to pick out a pot she\u2019ll love!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Painting with a Twist<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve talked about my love for Painting with a Twist<\/a> before because it\u2019s such a fun night out! They encourage you to sip, socialize, and of course, create something beautiful. This is perfect if you want to coordinate a fun night for a bunch of moms at once (yes, you can even do this for yourself and your girlfriends to celebrate Mother\u2019s Day). If you\u2019re still not going out and about, don\u2019t worry! You can get an at-home paint kit<\/a> and pour yourself a glass of your favorite wine to drink while you paint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lake Shore Drive-In Theater<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Is Mom\u2019s dearest wish to just sit down and relax on her big day? How about a nice movie at the drive-in theater? Not only is the d\u00e9cor completely out of this world, but their food is on Oprah\u2019s Favorite Things list. No seriously, it is<\/a>. Suggestion: Get a reservation!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Indiana Dunes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now, how about a suggestion that is the complete<\/em> opposite of a fancy restaurant with cake and champagne? Get some free, fun fresh air and a little road trip in by going to the Indiana Dunes National Park<\/a>. Climb the dunes and get in a workout while you\u2019re at it. This is also a great place to take a picnic lunch. Suggestion: be sure to check their website for any potential park closures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Grape and Grain Tours<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Nothing\u2019s better than a wine tasting or brewery tour with Mom for you older kids who can no longer get by with a coupon book full of free hugs. So, why not take Mom to Southwest Michigan for a tour? Enjoy transportation, libations, and lunch with Grape and Grain Tours<\/a>. This fun experience is sure to be a memorable gift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brunch<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Brunch is a classic, good Mother\u2019s Day option, and you don\u2019t even have to make it yourself.
